I used to use baby oil to clean my stainless steel stuff but now I use "Magic Eraser". It is an eco sponge that uses no detergent and cleans all sorts of things as well as stainless steel.

It is a little pricey so don't use it for anything that can be cleaned with something else but the things it cleans without any effort are fabulous. My kitchen is now really shiny! And no I don't have a vested interest. I just like to share an enviromentally friendly product that works!

Just a guess, but try baby oil. I've heard that it works well on stainless steel.
Good Luck!

The spots under the water/ice dispenser will keep coming back unless you find and correct the cause.

Baking soda can be used as a scouring powder and will not scratch the finish.

Vinegar will take off water spots, but works best if left on the spots for 15-20 minutes, so that might be easier on the horizontal surfaces.

After you get the spots off, polish the appliance with a soft, dry cloth. An application of wax may help keep them off, too.
